Beauifup Nippon: Hiro's Stylish English
OK, now suppose I’m hosting a dinner party, and you’re a guest. (じゃ、僕がディナーパーティーを開いて、由美ちゃんは招待客という設定で行こうか) Y: All right. (Knock, Knock) Hi, Hiro, thank you very much for inviting me. Wow! Everything looks so great! H: Well, we prepared a lot of food in season today. Please help yourself. Y: Thank you very much. Mmm... This dish using matsutake mushroom is so delicious! H: I’m glad you like it!(気に入ってもらえて何より!) Can I help you toなになに~と言います。 。。 Y: Can I help you to some more salad? H: That’s right. OK, let’s continue. Now, Yumiko, would you like some rice wine? This one is super-premium, daiginjyo. It goes well with matsutake. Y: Yes, of course. Thank you. Mmm... It’s very dry but smooth! Oh, I just got a text from my friend saying she got lost on the way here. Please excuse me for a minute. I’ll go give her a call… 。。 Y: Please excuse me for a minute. Please excuse me for a minute. This rice wine goes well with Japanese dishes. By the way, Hiro, what’s the definition of daiginjo?(ところで、ヒロ、大吟醸の定義って何) H: Well, it depends on the rice polishing rate. With daiginjo, rice polished up to 50 percent is used. Y: Why is polishing necessary? H: Well, the surface of the rice grains made into sake contains substances that can degrade the sake taste. By polishing the grains, you can remove those unwanted substances. Y: I see. So, in general, the higher the polishing rate, the higher the quality of the end product. H: You’re right. Y: Well, that’s why daiginjo goes well with such a delicacy as matsutake! |
