"Ohanami" is one of the most popular events in Japan. "Ohanami" literally means viewing flowers, but the term usually refers to cherry blossom viewing. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom for a very short period, usually from March to April depending on the area. During that season, family members, friends and workplace colleagues get together under cherry trees, and enjoy eating, drinking and chatting while appreciating the cherry blossoms. Occasionally, a blizzard of falling cherry blossom petals appears to welcome even foreign guests.
