試験の様子
集合時間１３時２０分、拘束時間１５時までと受験票に記載されていました。１３時頃受付に行ったとき、その時初めて気が付きました。一次試験の受験票と合格通知の２枚書類が必要なところ、合格通知しか持参していなかったのです。（うっかり忘れたのではなく、合格通知に書いてあった指示を全く読んでいなかったのです。ヤッテモータ！）普段どちらかと言えば慎重な方ですので、あせりました。「仮受験票」を発行してもらうのに、住所等を記入し、運転免許証を検め、更に私は１０月に転居していたので、また別の書類に住所変更届を書き....とかなり時間がかかりました。
それでも１３時１５分ごろにはすべて終わり、すぐ控室に入り「ふう...」と一息ついたところで、受験番号と名前を呼ばれました。この時点でまだ１３時２０分にはなっていませんでした。まさかもう試験室に行くとは思わず、「何かさっきの手続きのことかな」くらいにしか思わなかったのが正直な気持ちです。しかも私の組は、まだ二人しかそろっていなかったのですが（当然です、時間前ですから）すぐに試験室へ誘導されました。試験室の前でも全く待つことなく、すぐに入室して、本番....でした。（ちなみに、三人目の方は、私達二名のインタビューが終了後、試験室の前で待機している時に一人だけ誘導されてきていました。）
試験官は外国人インタビュアー（男性）と日本人（現役ガイドさん？女性）の二名。
質問内容
（以下、J：日本人試験官、N：ネイティブ試験官、A：受験者）
A: Hello. My name is ... Nice to meet you.
J: Nice to meet you, too. Please sit down.
A: Thank you.
J: Where are you from?
A: I’m from ... city, Chiba-prefecture.
N: Chiba... Is it near Tokyo Disneyland?
A: No, Tokyo Disney Land is located in Urayasu City. It takes about 40 minutes by train. Talking of Disneyland, I used to work for a hotel near Disneyland. I’m glad to hear “Disneyland”.
N: Oh! Really. （このあとのやりとりが記憶があいまいです。「楽しかった？」と聞かれ「はい、とっても楽しみました。」のような内容でしたが、果たして仕事のことだったか、ディズニーランドのことか…）
N: OK, I would ask you a few question. First, please tell me about the Japanese rainy season.
A: Yes, the Japanese rainy season is from early June through mid July. A rain front settles over Japan during the period. It always rains in these rainy seasons.
N: OK, next question. When was the last time that the summer Olympic games were hosted in Japan?
A: It was in 1964 ? Tokyo Olympics. It was the time before I was born. （試験官、ちょっと笑い） but I heard the news on TV that women’s national volleyball team got a gold medal. I used to play volleyball in junior high school. So it was the memorial Olympics for me.
N: What do you think about... （東京が未来のオリンピックをhostするかもしれないことについて？）
A: I think it’s good that Tokyo hosts the Olympic games in the future. If the dreams come true, many tourists will come to Japan. If the dreams come true, I would like to see the games.
N: I see. Let’s move on to another question. What’s the difference between a shrine and a temple?
A: First, a shrine is for Shintoism, and a temple is for Buddhism. You can tell one from the other by TORII. Torii is a Shinto shrine gate. It’s a long open gate with two pillars and two cross beams connecting them at the top. The most famous Torii is in Miyajima, Hiroshima-prefecture. And a temple has a gate with doors.
N: Is that all?
A: Also a temple is more likely to have a cemetery on the ground.
N: Do Japanese people go to a shrine more often than a temple?
A: Well, I can’t say Japanese people go to a shrine more often than a temple. Japanese go to a temple for funerals, or to pray for good luck on New Year’s Day.
N: Could you recommend some good temple or shrine around here? ...in Tokyo?
A: I’m unfamiliar with temples and shrines in Tokyo, but I recommend visiting 柴又帝釈天. （日本人試験官、苦笑しているような…） because Shibamata is the place where shooting of a famous TV drama Tora-san was held...
N: TV drama? （明らかに寅さんのことを知っていて、間違えを助けてくれました。）
A: I’m sorry, I made a mistake. Shooting of a famous movie was held, so you can enjoy the temple and traditional Japanese streets. It’s worth visiting.
N: Can you give me the spelling of the temple you mentioned?
A: Yes, 柴又 SHI-BA-MA-TA , 帝釈天 TA-I-SHA-KU-TEN.
N: （本当に メモしていました。） Thank you. We’ve finished.
A: Thank you very much. （日本人試験官へ）「ありがとうございました。」（終了後は、前とは別の控え室に誘導され、予定より早く１４時３０分に解散となりました。）
試験を終えて
よかった所は、少なくとも頭が真っ白になって、だまりこんでしまうことがなかったこと（CELで鍛えていただいたおかげです！）、アイコンタクトと笑顔を心がけて実践できたことなどです。
反省点は、コンテンツの内容が乏しかった所です。神社と寺の違いは、CELのレッスンでやったことが「ドンピシャ」でしたが、梅雨は、北海道にはないこと、過去のオリンピックの意義など深い話ができていなこと。「お勧めの寺、神社を自分で考えておきなさい」とInstructorに言われていたのに、準備しておかなかったことなど。（柴又帝釈天は毎年初詣に行っているので、とっさに頭に浮かびました。）
もうひとつの反省点は、集中力に欠けていたことです。ぎりぎりまでリラックスして、直前に集中力を高めて本番を迎えたかったのですが、前述のように、全く待ち時間なして本番を迎えてしまったため、集中力のスイッチが入らないまま終わってしまった事です。この点が本当に悔しくて、数日間落ち込んでしまいました。でも終わったことをあれこれ考えても仕方がない....結果は奇跡を信じることにします。
