試験官は、イギリス人?性(50代)、日本人女性(40代?)の2名。

質問内容

（以下、J：日本人試験官、N：ネイティブ試験官、A：受験者）

A: (ドアをノックして)失礼します。Good afternoon.

N: Good afternoon.

J: Good afternoon. Have a seat. What is your name?

A: My name is ...

J: Where do you live?

M: I live in ..., in Kanagawa Prefecture.

J: I see.

N: Let me ask you a few questions about Japan. I know there are many dialects in Japan. Please give me an example of dialects? Please explain it specifically.

A: I live in Yokohama for 25 years, in the same prefecture. And there is Yokohama dialect. I didn’t realize but some friends told me that my language is a little strange. For example, I said “JAN” at the end of the sentence. Usually we use “DESU or MASU” before finishing the sentence. That’s polite Japanese. But I say “JAN” in casual between friends. It’s not special meaning, actually. (It doesn’t have a special meaning.というべきでしたが...) Then I heard that there is Yokohama dialect after that.

N: I see. It’s interesting. And what is the most interesting dialect to you? Please explain it. (具体的にどんな言葉が面白いと思ったかと聞かれた気がするのですが、細かくは覚えていません。)

A: When my friend talked, who is from Kyushu in the south, I couldn’t understand what she was saying. Her language was very different. (途中からdialectの代わりにlanguageを何度も使ってしまいました) It was when she was talking with her mother. She is usually very elegant person and speaks very fluent Tokyo language, so I was really surprised. I’m sorry I couldn’t say exactly what she was saying because I couldn’t catch the words at all.

N: Oh, I see. That's OK. Now, let me ask you a practical question.

A: Yes.

N: If a tourist leaves his camera on the train, what will you do as a tour guide?

N: If I am a tour guide, at first I would like to say to him, “Japan is very safe. Your camera is OK. It should be somewhere ... stored (保管されているという単語が出ずじまい) And then, I will call the station. For example, if the train is bound for Tokyo station, I’ll call Tokyo station. As there is a lost and found counter there, so they transfer my call to the counter. And I can get some information about the camera. Also, I heard that I could search our belongings through the Internet.

A: I see. ((この後、わざわざ私が言ったことをまとめて下さいました。私の言い方がまずかったのかな、と思いながら聞いていました)

N: Who is the most famous foreigner came to Japan?

A: I live in Hayama close to Yokosuka city. So I think Mr. Perry is very famous foreigner in Japan. (Commodore提督がどうしても出ませんでした) He came with the black ship called KUROFUNE in the 19th century. After that, Japan was opened to other countries. So he is very famous in Japan. I heard that the ship was colored black to be a threat to Japanese people. Japanese people were very surprised to see the black ship, and opened Japan to countries.

N: So do you dislike him?

A: No. Thanks to him and his black ship, Japan could open to other countries and westernized Japan. So I, and most of the Japanese people, like Mr. Perry.

N: I see. Oh, We have to stop now.

J: Yes. It’s the end. (細かく覚えていませんが、おしまいですという意味のことをおっしゃいました。) Thank you very much.

N: Thank you.

A: Thank you very much. (荷物をとり、部屋を出るときもういちど) Thank you very much. ありがとうございました。失礼します。と言ってでました。

試験を終えて

話しているうちに、説明が長くなってしまい、また、1問ごとに追加質問があったこともあったせいか、あと1問あったであろう問題が終わらないまま終了でした。考えてから答える余裕はなかったので、コンパクトに返答することができませんでした。また、正しい文法で話すように心がけること、ぴったりした単語を使用することが難しく、上記に記したよりも、ずっともたもたしてしまいました。一生懸命な態度と、積極性に関しては伝わったつもりですが、自信はありません。
