N, J: Good morning!

A: Good morning.

J: How are you? （女性の顔を見つめていたせいかこの人が話しかけてきた）

A: Not too bad, but I’m just a little bit nervous, because this is the first time for me to have an interview in English. （実は2週間前に英検1級2次面接を受けていたのについうっかり）

N: Please relax. First of all, will you tell us your name and address?

A: My name is …. I live in ….

N: Is Urayasu well known for what?

A: The city is well known for the Tokyo version of Disneyland.

N: I see. Do you know any other famous amusement park in Chiba pref.?

A: I’m not sure there is any other well known amusement park in Chiba pref. （しまった！鴨川水族館のイルカの曲芸忘れてた）

N: OK. Next. I am interested in trekking and mountain climbing. Where do you recommend to visit …. （この後の表現忘却）

A: For trekking, I would like to recommend you to visit Karuizawa where you can find a quiet forest and highland for trekking. （実は私は軽井沢の森も高原も行ったことがない。とっさにこう言ってしまった。）

N: I see. So how can I get to Karuizawa?

A: Limited express will take you from JR Tokyo station to Karuizawa in less than 2 hours. （所要時間はかなりいい加減）

N: And for mountain climbing?

A: If you don’t mind flying to Hokkaido, I would like to recommend you to climb Mr. Taisetsu, which is located in the central of Hokkaido. （私自身大雪山登山経験があるのでこう言ったが冬山の危険性を指摘されたい、と心配になった）

N: I don’t mind flying to Hokkaido.

Next, I am interested in history. Is it true that Kyoto or Nara was the seat of the capital of Japan?

A: Yes, both Kyoto and Nara used to be the seats of the capital of Japan. The period of the capital in Nara was only 70 years, whereas the capital in Kyoto lasted about 1,000 years.

N: Wow, and when the capital was transferred to Tokyo?

A: If I correctly remember, in 1868 when the Meiji Restoration took place the seat of the capital was transferred from Kyoto to Tokyo, and since then the government centering Tennoh launched. （下線部は全く不要であった。しかも語い、文法、構文共にデタラメ。“Tennoh”って何？エーカッコシーは怪我の因とは知りつつも）

N: I would like to visit a hot spring resort. Where do you recommend to go?

A: I would like to recommend you to visit Hakone, which is famous for good hot springs and the magnificent view of Mr. Fuji from there. Its easy access from Tokyo also adds to its attraction.

N: I see. Why do so many Japanese like hot springs?

A: One of the major reasons is that they can relax with soaking in hot springs, especially after skiing in cold winter.

N: I’m curious about Japanese cuisine. What is “sashimi”?

A: Sashimi is sliced raw fish. Tsuna, yellowtail and cuttlefish are popular for sashimi.

N: Ah---, strong-tasting green …. （ここで助け舟を出してくれた）

A: Oh, wasabi horse radish. Sashimi is eaten after being dipped in soy sauce mixed with wasabi horse radish. Hot.

N: Hot.　（と言って同調してくれた）

OK, the last question. I’m going to have Japanese food for lunch. What kind of Japanese food do you recommend?

A: I would like to recommend that you have “Nigiri-zushi”.

N: Nigiri-zushi? What is it like?

A: Nigiri-zushi is a kind of sushi which consists of a sliced raw fish on a oval-shaped ball of boiled rice, eaten after being dipped in soysauce. （丸暗記したものをそのまま言った）

N: Sounds good. Where do you want to take me for sushi?

A: I want to take you to a sushi restaurant near Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo.

N: Why to a sushi shop near the fish market?

A: Shishi shops in and around the fish market can get fresh materials for sushi. （materialsでなくingredientsと言う方が良かったかな、と思いつつ）

And one of the major reasons why I recommend you to try sushi is that sushi is not connected with metabolic syndrome. （E1, E2共声をあげて笑った）

N: All right, N…. （私の名前を言いずらそうだったので）

A: Just call me …, please. （E1, E2共笑顔になり）

N: OK, …. Thank you for coming here today.

A: Thank you very much. （一礼して退出。）
