質問内容

(以下、J:日本人試験官、N:ネイティブ試験官、A:受験者)

A: Hello.

N: Hello. Please have a seat.

A: Thank you.

J: Hello. Can I have your name, please? And where are you from?

A: My name is …. I’m from Shizuoka.

N: Imagine that you are a tour guide. Your guest left the camera on the train. What will you do?

J: Well, I’ll go to the lost and found office at the station and tell that my guest left his or her camera on the train.

N: Ok, but a few hours later, the camera is still missing. What will you do?

A: I will tell my guest to be patient and wait for a while until the lost and found office contacts us. Also I will get my guest’s contact information both in Japan and in his or her home country. I will be happy to send the camera when it’s found even after my guest left Japan.

N: Are there many dialects in Japan?

A: Yes. I moved so many times due to my father’s job when I was a child, so I learned several dialects. For example, when I lived in Gifu prefecture, I felt uncomfortable with the dialect at first, because the Gifu dialect sounds so strong and coarse that I felt as if I were scolded by my friends and my neighbors.

N: I see. Where is Gifu?

A: Gifu is located in the middle of Japan. The Gifu dialect sounds like the Osaka dialect a little bit.

N: Where is Osaka?

A: It’s in the western part of Japan.

N: Okay. Why are cherry blossoms important in Japan?

A: There are so many cherry trees in parks and streets all over Japan. Japanese people love cherry blossoms very much simply because they’re very beautiful and they don’t last long. We hold a cherry viewing party under the cherry trees in spring. We enjoy drinking and eating, watching beautiful blossoms. Some people like to sing or dance under the tree.

N: You told me that there are many cherry trees in Japanese parks. Give me some examples.

A: Sure. In Tohoku region, Kakunodate and Hirosaki are the famous cherry viewing spots. In Tokyo, Chidorigafuchi park is the most popular place. It’s close to the Imperial Palace.

N: I see. Who is the most famous foreigner in Japanese history?

A: I think Perry is the most famous. (フルネームで答えられませんでした。)

N: Tell me about Perry.

A: In the 19th century, Perry came to Yokosuka in Kanagawa prefecture in order to ask Japanese Tokugawa shogunate to open the door to foreign countries. (黒船や鎖国のことを付け足せばよかったです。年も正確に答えるべきでした。)

N: Are there any monuments in Yokosuka?

A: Yes, there is a monument. (記念館についてもふれるべきでした。)

N: One more question. Why did Japanese samurai wear swords?

A: (swords が聞き取れず) Would you repeat the question?

N: Why did Japanese samurai wear swords?

A: Well, samurai had to be well prepared for wars even in everyday lives, so they always wore swords. (短い回答で終わってしまいました。)

N: All right. This is the end of the test. Have a nice day!

A: Thank you, you too.
