試験の様子

* 16:00集合、16:20まで控室で待機、後、試験会場階へ移動

呼ばれるまで、各階の端にあるフロアで待つので、中の声や様子は不明

1部屋につき30分間で3人の試験を実施、問題組数は7組とのこと

私は2人目、1人目16：30開始、10分以上で長かった。

試験終了後、控室で長時間待機、17:00からのグループの終了をまち18時頃解散

* 昨年は、英語免除者が3名集められていたが、今年は、違う雰囲気だった。

16:45頃呼ばれて廊下を進むと、係員が試験室に入るよう促す。(引き戸)

入ると、昨年とは違い机が整然と並べられ、荷物用と被験者用が用意されていた。

試験官との距離は2mほどでかなり近い。昨年は4-5ｍあり、雑然としていた。

* 試験官は2名　

J: 40歳くらいのにこにこした女性、常にこちらに笑みを向けていた。昨年は顔を伏せ顔を見ることなく試験が終わったが、今年は正面から対応していた。

N: 50歳過ぎの眼鏡をかけた非英国系の発音の男性

質問内容

（以下、J：日本人試験官、N：ネイティブ試験官、A：受験者）

A: Good afternoon.

J: Have a seat, please. Could I ask your name?

A: My name is …. (苗字を言い終わらないうちに、即座に1問目)

N: Please tell me about HAKONE.

A: Hakone is about 80 or 90km away from Tokyo. There are many hot spring spots and resort hotels. If you wish to play tennis or golf, those facilities are available. And you also be able to join a cruse at lake Ashinoko or climb up mountains by a cable car.

N: Is Mt. Fuji near Hakone?

A: No. But you can see Mt. Fuji from the top of mountains in Hakone area.

N: I’m staying at a hotel in Shinjuku. How can I get to Hakone?

A: My best recommendation is to catch Odakyuu-line from Sinjuku. Odakyuu has a special express train from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto station.

(話が途切れるのを待っていたように)

J: Would you explain about Nara-era?

(明らかにareaではなくeraといっていたので自信を持って)

A: According to the textbook for high school students, Nara-era started in the year 710. In Nara-era a big statue of Buddha and temples such as Todaiji-temple were built. Nara was a capital of the nation then and the Emperor ruled the whole country.

N: Other than Todaiji-temple, are there any temples in Nara?

(奈良時代から奈良地域に話を変えたと判断して)

A: Houryuuji-temple is famous as the oldest temple which has five story pagoda in Japan.

N: Is Houryuuji-temple near Todaiji-temple?

A: No. It will take you from Todaiji-temple to Houryuuji-temple for about 20 minutes or so by a car or a bus. It’s not so close to Todaiji to enjoy walking.

(いきなり、また間髪を入れずに次の話題)

N: Now Japanese economy …(日本の景気が悪いがどうしたらよくなると思うか)

A: I think Japanese government should put more money in to public works other than civil works. More investment should be made in industries such as environment technology, fuel cell development and environment protection, those are concerning with protecting our lives on the earth.

N: I want to visit a factory. (投げかけるように)

A: I recommend you to visit Akihabara area. Lately there are many new buildings and one of them, UDX-building is specialized in exhibitions. If you wish to visit a real factory, visit Fujiyoshida City. There is a famous factory making robots.

N: Oh, robot!

(さえぎるように)

J: Thank you, finished.

(あまりに早い終わりだったので、ポカンとしていると)

J: Thank you, finished. (早く退出するよう促すように少し声高に)

A: Thank you, indeed. (日本式に軽く会釈して退出)

試験を終えて

昨年は15分程度、詰問された感じだったが、今年は超スピードで歯切れよく5分以内で終了。前の受験者に割いた時間を取り戻そうとしていた。これで判定できるのか不安になったが。

昨年はこちらの答えを掘り下げるように質問が深くなっていったが、今年は用意された質問をこなそうとしていた。

(反省点)

1) せかされている雰囲気に呑まれ、かなり早口で話してしまった。

2) スマイルは最初だけしか意識できなかった。

3) 机があったので、ハンドジェスチャーは肘から上だけとなった。

4) アイコンタクトは、意識してはできなかった。

5) 声の大きさは、試験官との距離が近かったので、小声になってしまった。
