A: Can I put here?

J: Put there.

J: Please be seated.

A: Thank you.

A: Good afternoon.

N: Good afternoon.

J: What is your name and where do you live?

A: My name is…. I live in …ward, Tokyo.

N: What is Olympic for Japanese?

A: Well…Olympic is a very important event for Japanese. They are excited about this event. For example, in Judo, Yawara-chan, or Tani Ryoko achieved a great performance. Also, it is a great chance of international interaction through sports. I think in that point, Olympic is very important for Japanese.

N: Why do Japan have so many cram schools?

A: Cram schools are for extra studies after school. Many parents want to get their children into prestigious universities or high schools. And there are intensive competitions. So they have to study extra hours.

N: Yes. Do they all go to cram schools?

A: No, not all of them. Going to cram schools is very costly, so only those with a higher income can.

N: Which season do you recommend to visit Japan?

A: Japan has 4 seasons. All season have each attraction. In summer, you can join in festivals. In autumn, you can see beautiful colored leaves. In winter, you can enjoy skiing. And in spring, you can see beautiful cherry blossoms. Above all, I would recommend you to visit Japan in spring because cherry blossoms are so beautiful. Kyoto is the perfect place to see cherry blossoms.

N: Why Japanese love cherry blossoms?

A: Well…there are several reasons. One of the reasons is that the season is the start of a school year and a fiscal year. People have fresh mind. Also, they are extremely beautiful. They scatter away their petals and their short life is compared to samurai’s life and people’s life. And another reason is that Japanese people enjoy having parties under the cherry trees, which is a great fun.

N: Where can I see cherry blossoms?

A: Cherry blossoms bloom throughout Japan in the spring season. I recommend Chidorigafuchi. It’s located in the Imperial Palace. The cherry blossoms are fantastic when they bloom around the moat of the Imperial Palace.

N: What is the Showa era like?

A: The first half of Showa era was war. People had to sacrifice their lives in the war for the emperor. In the latter half of Showa era, from 1945 under the control of U.S., Japan had a high economic growth.

A:始めから仕事をするのは無理ですので、いろいろな研修を受けて実際の仕事について理解し、また、日本に限らず、さまざまな国を自分の足で回り、さまざまな視点から日本を案内できるガイドを目指しております。

試験を終えて

最初と最後に笑顔ができたことはよかったのですが、話している時に日本人のガイドの方と目が合い、あまりいい表情をされませんでした。表情が堅かったのだと思います。それ以外は、目が合いませんでした。一般的なことを言ってしまい、ネイティヴの方が早口で、それにつられてしまった点もあり、自分の体験が話せませんでした。沈黙がなかったことはよかったです。
