N: How are you?
A: Fine, thank you. But I am a little nervous because it's the first time for me to take this kind of English interview test.
N: I know, I know. But relax, relax.
J: What's your name？
A: My name is ...
J: Where do you live?
A: I live in ....
J: How did you get here?
A: I took two trains. It took 30 minutes.
N: Could you explain about the details?
A: Yes, first of all, I took a train from my nearest station to Shibuya, and at Shibuya I changed train and got here.
N: How long did it take from door to door?
A: It took about 50 minutes.
N: 50 minutes. Not so bad.
A: Yes, not so bad.

Could you tell me about onsen in your neighborhood?
A: これについては、Intensive classでも何度か聞かれたのでスムーズに回答できました。
N: Then, next question. Could you tell me about your favorite historical story in Japanese history?
A: Yes, I like Himiko in the 3rd century. She was regarded as a God and she governed most of the country. She did very well…
N: Why did you choose Himiko? Could you tell me about more details?
A: It is because she is female……
(ここで突然、なんで卑弥呼の話を始めてしまったんだろう？と思い、 このあとがうまく続けられなくなりました。そのことをお察しにな ったのか次の質問に移りました。)
N: OK. Next question. Why do so many school children go to cram school after school?
A: There are some reasons for that. One is that some parents don’t think the study in the schools are not enough for their children and they manage the children to go to cram schools. And also these days the entrance examinations for junior and senior high schools have been very hard and that's why the parents make their children go to cram schools.
(理由のようで理由になっていないような気もしながら、とりあえず 発言したまま文章をつなげていこうと努めました。)
J: それでは、ここからは日本語でお尋ねします。日本語でお答えくだ さい。
A: はい。
J: あなたが通訳ガイドになられたら、どんなことに気をつけていきた いですか？
A: まず、緊急事態に備える準備を怠りなくして参りたいと思います。
そして、できるだけたくさんの会話を通して、外国からの旅行者の 方の要 望を十分にお聞きし、そのうえで、日本の良いところを存分 に体験していただき、旅行者の方々が日本に来て良かった、日本は 本当にいい国だと思っていただき、旅行の良い思い出をたくさん作 っていただけるようお 手伝いをするために最大限の努力をして参 りたいと思います。
J: わかりました。以上です。
A: はい。ありがとうございました。

試験を終えて
とにかく笑顔と挨拶だけはきちんと、と心がけました。また、事前のIntensive classの先生から、午後受験の場合、試験官の方々も疲れてきていらっしゃるかもしれないから、「私という受験生のために、お疲れのところ、お時間をいただいてありがとうございます。」という態度で臨むと好印象、とのアドバイスをうけておりましたので、その旨も念頭に置き、臨みました。
CELの２次対策授業、Intensive classを通して、たくさん準備をしてきて、自信を持って試験に臨めましたので、無事終了して、満足しています。
