●試験の様子
９：００～９：２５受付、教室は確認できただけでも３４あり、９時集合は最初のグループの様子。 １３番目の教室の４番目に面接。（首に下げるように指示された番号札に１３－④と書かれてある。
試験官は、男性（４０代？）、日本人女性（４０代？）の2名。
廊下の椅子で待っている間、係の方に「中で、受験番号を確認されるはずなので準備しておいてください」と言われる。
●質問内容
A: （ドアをノックして）May I come in?
J: Good morning. Have a seat. Please tell me your name and number.
A: My name is ... and the number is …
J: メモがおいてありますので、必要であればお使いください。（たしか英語で言われたような気がする。そのあと、今から日本語を訳す試験をするという内容を言われる。特に会話はなく、いきなり試験が始まる。）
J: 日本は４方を海に囲まれ、国土の全体の多く(７割？)が山地です。７つの火山帯があります。川の幅は狭く、急流が多く、川が海に流れ込んだところに平野があります。（かなりゆっくり読み上げてくれ、おまけに途中で面接官が噛んで言い直してくれたのでメモはばっちりとれた。）
M: Japan is surrounded by four oceans. And 70 percent of the land is mountainous. There are seven volcanic mountain areas. Rivers' width are narrow and many of rivers are pretty steep. The place where rivers flow into the ocean is field. (今、思えば、冠詞、単数複数に気を配る余裕なし！平野はplane
だ！文法もひどい。。。）
Ｎからの英語の指示でカードから一枚を選ぶ問題へ移る。

３は、すぐ捨てるが１と２で迷い、浮世絵を選ぶ。
J: I'm going talk about wood block painting. Wood block paint developed in Edo period which is about 17-19 century. It was for common people because it could make a lot of prints so the printing cost was reduced. Wood block paint also influenced Western impressionists such as Van Gogh and Monet. Oh, I have an interesting story about Ukiyoe. At that time the government had an isolation policy, but there were some trades and when the products are exported, they were wrapped with wood block print and some Western artists got interested in the print. And they started to collect them. Van Gogh collected more than 500 wood block prints. (途中で２分過ぎて、Ｊに中止するよう言われたがＮが話に興味を持ってくれた様子で、続けるように促され、最後まで話す。)
N: Who is your favorite ukiyoe painter?
A: Hiroshige Ando and Utamaro Kitagawa.(知っている二人を挙げる)
N: What is the Hiroshige's work?
A: (広重と歌麿の作品が頭の中でごちゃごちゃ)Well, he depicted landscape, beautiful women, Kabuki actors… and I like the one with Mt. Fuji.
N: Did he depict just Mt. Fuji? Or Mt. Fuji with what …
A: Oh, Red Mt. Fuji.
N: Why is it red?
A: It's the reflection of sun….(と言いかけて大きくうなずき)
N: Have you seen red Fuji?
A: No…
N: （うれしそうに）I saw red Mt. Fuji when I saw Mt. Fuji for the first time.
A: You were so lucky!
N: Yes, I was lucky. Where can I buy ukiyoe wood print now in Japan?
A: (見るところだと勘違いし、美術館のことを言うとI mean where can I buy not see. と)
If it is replica, you can buy some souvenir shops in Asakusa. (適当)
ここで、試験終了と言われ、あまりのあっけなさにぽかんとしてしまい、日本語で終了です、とまた言われてしまった。

いつもの英語のスピードより、ゆっくり目をみながら答えました。お二人とも感じのいい方で、試験は楽しんで終えることができました。終わってからCELのクラスメート３人でお昼を食べましたが、３人とも、きのうはよく眠れなかったし、朝５時に目が覚めたということで一緒でした。前日の夜、腕に（見えないところに）ボールペンでEnjoy the conversation! と書いておき、試験場でそれをちらっと見ました。
