(1)試験会場到着から試験室入室までの手順
場所：ＮＴＴ研修センター
試験時間：13:00－14:00
12:00-12:20の間に受付を終え、大会議室に着席。黒板の注意事項：通信機器は使用禁止。電子を含む辞書は使用可。ドリンクのみ可。トイレに行くときは挙手して係員が同行。携帯電源を切るよう定期的にアナウンスあり。
13:10 グループ単位（8名程度）で別のフロアーの待機部屋に移動。
13:40 グループ単位で、面接部屋の前に移動。5分程度教室の外で待機。前の受験者が退出後、3分後、日本人の試験官が部屋のドアを開けて室内に案内。
外国人の試験官から、Good Afternoonと声を掛けられ、荷物を隣の席におき、席に座るよう指示があった。挨拶をし、指示通りに着席。
(2) 試験官の性別、推定年齢、（外国人面接官はアクセントから判断して）国籍
外国人：50代くらいの男性、アメリカ人、大学教授風。
日本人：30代くらいの男性。親切な雰囲気の方であった。
(3) 自己紹介等のウオーミングアップのやり取り
名前、生年月日、住所を聞かれ、その後すぐ翻訳に移った。
(4) 通訳の日本文
寿司飯の作り方を説明します。少し硬めに炊いたご飯を寿司桶にふんわりと移します。次に、しゃもじを使って寿司酢を少しずつ回しかけます。すぐに混ぜるのではなく、すし酢が全体に行き渡るまで５秒ほど待ちます。その後全体を混ぜ合わせます。
(5) 英語訳の再現
When making Sushi rice, we cook it harder. After that, putting the rice on a plate and add Sushi vinegar to the rice. We have to wait for a while, about 5 seconds. The vinegar is soaked into the rice, and we mix the rice all together.

I would like to talk about Shinto shrine.
Shinto is the indigenes religion in Japan. Shinto is practiced at Shinto shrine. When we go to Shinto Shrine, there are several rules. Let me talk about the ritual.
When we go to Shinto Shrine, there is a Torii gate. Some Torii gates are painted in red and some are wooden gates as they are.
After passing under the Torii gate, we go to Chozusha. At Chozusha we wash our hands and rinse our mouth. It means purification of us. Next we go to the main hall and make our wishes. First we bow twice, clap our hands twice, make wishes, and bow once.
After that sometime we go to the shrine office and buy Ema. Ema is a small wooden tablet and we write our wishes on the back side and hang it at the special place. When we go to the place, there are many Ema are hanging. Some wishes are written in Japanese, and some are written in English or other languages.
It is how to make wishes at Shinto shrine.

Q: Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples look similar. What are differences between Shinto Shrines and Buddhist temples?
A: Both are religious places. Shinto Shrines have a Torii gate. Buddhist temples have Buddhist statues.

Q: Sometimes Buddhist statuses are standing in Shinto Shrine. Why?
A: In the olden days, the government mixed Shinto and Buddhism. At that time Shinto Shrines had Buddhist status. Some Shinto Shrines remain as they are, but it is very rare.

Q: What is Ema you said? Please explain the Ema. What is the origin of Ema?
Long time ago, people offered horses when making wishes. The Ema has a picture of a horse on the front and we write wishes at the back side. The Ema came from the tradition and it is a simplified form the tradition.

Q: When is the best time to go to Shinto Shrine?
A: Anytime is fine. But I recommend going there in the morning, because Shrines are mostly surrounded by forests and we can enjoy fresh morning air in Shrines.

Q: Do many Japanese people go to Shinto Shrine?
Yes, many people go to Shinto Shrines.
In the New Year time, we go to Shinto Shrine to make wishes. For example, Meiji Shrine is the biggest Shrine in Tokyo. A lot of people go to Maiji Shine and there is a long que in the Shrine.

(11) 試験終了後のやり取り
日本人試験官からこれで終わりですと言われ、Thank you very much. 外国人試験官に回答し、日本人試験官にお辞儀をした。
日本人試験からは、メモは持ち帰らずに、そのままにするよう言われた。
部屋を出るときに、再度、二人の試験官に会釈して、部屋を出た。
(12) 終了後、退出してから解散までの手順
終了後、待機場所でグループの他の方が終わるのを待ち、解散となった。
(13) 全体を通しての感想など
通訳部分では、比較的にゆっくり話していただいたにも関わらず、大筋しか通訳できなかった。「寿司桶にご飯をふんわりとおく」といった部分で、何といってよいのか焦ってしまった。後から考えると簡単なことなのに、言葉が思い浮かばなかった。兎に角ジェスチャーを多用した。
プレゼンテーションでは、神社を選択。お参りの仕方を中心に説明したが、試験官二人ともに「そんな事は知っている」といった雰囲気だった。
沈黙なくインタビューを終え、始終アイコンタクトを取り、熱意を以て説明したつもりですが、必至さが先行してしまし、笑顔は少なかったと思います。部屋を出るときには、外国人試験官が笑顔で、片手を上げて挨拶をしてくれ、その熱意は通じたと思うが、文法ミスが多く、正直なところ反省点が多いインタビューでした。
