通訳ガイド(全国通訳案内士)2次試験レポート

(1)試験会場到着から入室までの手順
会場は三軒茶屋の昭和女子大学。1階のロビーで待機し、10時半の開始時刻になったら6階の待合室まで移動し控え室の前で受付。控え室で説明を受け、時間になったら十数人ずつまとまって別の待合室まで移動。そこでまた待機し、一人ずつ試験室まで呼び出された。
(2)試験官の性別、推定年齢
男性 (日本人) は60代くらい、女性は50代くらいで、あまりひどい訛りはなかったのでアメリカ人ではないかと思う。
(3)自己紹介等のイントロのやり取り
男性試験官から「名前、生年月日、居住地をお教えください」と言われ、まとめて答えた。
(4)プレゼンテーションの3つのトピック
「桜島」「計画運休」あとの一つは覚えていない。
(5)選択したトピック
桜島。選択肢を見たらどれも予想していなかったものだったので、一瞬アセった。桜島と計画運休のどちらにしようかと迷ったが、鹿児島には行ったことがあったのでこちらにした。
(6)プレゼンテーションの再現
I would like to talk about Sakurajima. Sakurajima is located in Kagoshima prefecture. Kagoshima is southwest end of the Japanese archipelago. (ここで『あ、間違えた』と思い) Japan has four main lands, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu from north to south. Kagoshima is the southwest end of it. Sakurajima is an island of there. It has an active volcano, and it is always making a smoke. Sometimes the mountain erupts, and ash falls on Kagoshima city. However, the mountain is really beautiful and very close to Kagoshima city. When you go to Kagoshima city, you can always see the magnificent beauty of the mountain. Why don’t you go to Kagoshima and see it?
ここでほぼ時間になった。他にも何か言ったかもしれないが、覚えていない。全くのぶっつけ本番だったが、何とか空白を作らずに話すことができた。

A: Yes, I have ever been to Tanegashima island. On the way, I stayed in Kagoshima.
N: You mentioned about the magnificence of Sakurajima. Is it really beautiful?
A: Yes, of course. You can see the beautiful mountain just in front of you from Kagoshima city.
N: How far is it from Tokyo?
A: It takes about one and half hour by airplane.
などと答えたことは記憶にある。
(8)英訳の日本文
日本には寿司という伝統料理があり、日本だけでなく世界でも有名です。寿司には様々な種類があり、一つはにぎり寿司で小さく握った酢飯の上に魚などの具を乗せたもの、二つ目は巻き寿司で巻いた酢飯の中に野菜や玉子などの具材を入れ海苔で巻いたもの、三つ目はちらし寿司で椀に入れた酢飯の上に魚や錦糸玉子などを乗せたものです。

Japan has a traditional cuisine called sushi. It is famous not only in Japan but also in the world. There are several kinds of sushi. One is Nigirizushi, a small ball of vinegared rice topped with fish. The second is Makizushi, a roll of vinegared rice wrapped with Nori seaweeds. Vegetables or egg are in the center of it. The third is Chirashizushi, a bowl of vinegared rice topped with fish or egg.

宿泊しているホテルのお客様が「寿司を握るところを見たい」と言ってきたので、どう対応するかとの質問。条件として、お客様は日本の料理に大変関心を持っているとのこと。
(11)試験官とのrole play応答内容の再現
A: In such situation, I would like to talk to the customer as follows; unfortunately, you cannot see how to make sushi in this hotel, however, nowadays there are a lot of schools teaching how to make sushi. I believe you can see it there. So, I will check the school at once.
N: But I want to see the chef whose sushi I ate last night.
A: Well, I will ask the hotel manager whether the chef shows you how to make sushi or not.
ここで時間となった。実は勘違いしてしまい、「このホテルでは見学できない」などとはどこにも書いていなかったのだが、最初に間違ったことを言ってしまった。だが最期の返答でややカバーできたのではないかと思う。

質問は特になかったが、女性の試験官が終わり際に「I hope you will tell me a good school.」と言ったので、私も「Thank you very much.」と答えた。
(13)終了後、退出してから解散までの手順
廊下の椅子で全員が終わるまで待機し、揃ったら一列になって別の待合室に移動した。
(14)全体を通しての感想、その他メッセージ
自分でも驚くほどスムーズに話すことができた。CELのレッスンではどもったり空白を作ったりすることがしょっちゅうだったので、正直全く自信がなかったのだが、本番では口のほうが自然に動いてくれるような感じだった。とにかく全力は尽くした。
